Remarks by His Excellency Governor of Sindh
The Governor who had been carefully listening the presentations
assured the audience that: "The
government is spearheading a major thrust in improving the quality
of education, and I am pleased to note that the report, in its
conclusions, illuminates and shows the way ahead for positive
development of Higher Education. For example the Task Force
Report stresses that national development requires both the
strengthening of science and technology and general education…
we all know that much more needs to be done as regards to Higher
Education. Numbers of graduates often seem to take precedence
over quality of education and the effectiveness of graduates".
Referring to the Task Force Report he stated that "National
development required both the strengthening of Science and Technology
education as well as general education;... and of course the
Report stresses the need for good governance." He spoke of the
"indispensable importance of Information technology and self
supporting employment through technical education.... The country
was suffering from an acute income deficiency syndrome. That
is why as Chancellor of all public sector universities in Sindh,
I have urged the vice chancellors to collect funds from alumni.
The universities should create endowments... this way you can
reduce the political interference in you work. You can make
your self largely independent."
